Diamond Technologies
sp3
Diamond Technologies is focused on the development
of diamond deposition techniques using CVD and dc torch reactors,
and the application of diamond coatings to a broad range of
industrial uses. Examples include custom cutting tools, dresser
bars, heat spreaders, and silicon wafers up to 300mm diameter.
Custom diamond services
Services offered by sp3 Diamond Technologies include:
Toll coating of carbide flat and round cutting tools.
Toll tipping of tools with thick-film diamond. Tips are laser-cut,
vacuum brazed in position and laser-trimmed to the customer's
specification for subsequent grinding by the customer.
Toll coating of woodworking tools.
Toll coating of electrodes.
Fabrication of water cutting nozzles.
Coating of silicon wafers.
Thick-film diamond industrial products
sp3 manufactures dresser bars (grinding logs) for dressing
abrasive materials and heat spreaders for thermal management
of electronic components.
CVD Hot-Filament Reactors
sp3 supplies complete production systems capable of depositing
uniform diamond films on surfaces up to 350 x 375 mm. Click

CVD Diamond Deposition Reactor Overview
Model 600 Hot-Filament Diamond Deposition
Reactor
Model 600P – Production
Model 600RD – Research & Development
- Computer-controlled deposition—consistent film thickness
and grain size for production; flexible control of deposition
for R&D
- Large usable deposition area—14 in. by 15 in. (350mm
by 375mm)
- Excellent film uniformity— ±10% over entire
deposition area
- High production capacity—large chamber size combined
with fast <1 hour turnaround and >95% uptime
- Filament spacing easily configured to suit coating application—optional
fixturing for 2D and 3D coating
- Low cost operation—less than 0.4 kWh power consumption
per cubic mm of diamond deposited
- Networkable reactors—host system can control up
to four reactors running individual recipes
- Safe—no operator exposure to aromatic hydrocarbons;
personnel and equipment protected by hardware and software
interlocks
- Reliable—MTBF greater than 500 hours
- Proprietary technology—protected by U.S patents
