Applied MicroStructures Applied
MicroStructures is an exclusive provider of vapor surface
coatings using a process called Molecular Vapor Deposition (MVDTM).
Special nano-scale coatings are used as “anti-stiction”
or “release” layers in nano-imprint lithography.
The MVDTM coatings can be applied to virtually any material
using special adhesion layers
MOLECULAR VAPOR DEPOSTION
MVD
is the unique vapor deposition of organic molecular precursors
for the modification of surface properties. MVD films can
be hydrophobic, hydrophilic, or coatings with reactive terminations.
In MEMS applications, MVD molecular films
are typically self-assembling monolayers (SAM’s) with
very low work of adhesion properties and are used as anti-stiction
coatings or for the hermetic sealing of components. In Bio
application, MVD films can be hydrophilic and bio-compatible
to improve wetting or to prevent protein absorption. In surface
chemistry applications, MVD coatings can be functionalise
to create anchors for new coatings.
The MVD process takes place in vacuum and when combined with
Applied Microstructures unique surface preparation techniques,
we can achieve 100% coverage and 100% conformity.
MVD 100 SYSTEMS
The MVD-100 offers the completely automated deposition of
organic surface coatings. Our system can reduce coating costs
an order of magnitude when compare with traditional techniques.
